Engine Power Verification (fisheries)

The generally accepted method to verify the engine power of (fishing) vessel is a strain gauge torque measurment and simultaneous shaft speed measurement at the propeller shaft. This type of verifications is peroformed during a short sea trial, and does not interfer with the engine operation and safety.

RDA Shiptech has experience with engine power verifications in the context of the CFP Control Regulation onboard more than 200 vessels in 14 Member States.

Our surveyors can act on a meaure-only basis, or provide the authority or operator with an in-depth assessment of  compliance. In addition, RDA Shiptech provides sealing and certification services, and can assist with the development of vessel sampling and power verification methodology.
